7 Tips & Tricks to Prevent Mold Growth at Home!

Mold is one of the most annoying things to find in your home! It’s unsightly, it smells horribly and, to top it off, it can produce respiratory problems on some people! Still, it can be difficult to get rid of it since it’s floats around in the air and thrives in damp areas.

So, if you need a few pointers on how to prevent and remove mold at home, ProRestore DKI in Grimes has this post for you!

How to Avoid Mold

1. Dry Well

Whether you’ve spilled water or you’ve just showered, make sure to dry the area well, so mold doesn’t have a field day in it! At the same time, avoid leaving your wet towel all bundled up, or piling up humid objects together.

2. Ventilate

Letting the air flow through a room is an easy way to make sure the humidity doesn’t build up. By opening up doors and windows, and turning the fans on, you can prevent mold growth.

3. Clean Regularly

As mentioned above, mold is everywhere. To keep it from ever being a problem, remember to clean your home regularly! This way, you’ll kill the fungus before it starts to expand!

4. Dehumidify

A dehumidifier may be just what you need if you have a big humidity problem at home. Set it in particularly humid areas (like your basement), so it can reduce the water content in the air.

5. Stop It Before It Grows Further

If you find a moldy spot, make sure to attack it before it starts growing! To do it, you’ll need to take some bleach, the appropriate gear, and a sponge to eliminate the disgusting mold.

6. Repair Leaks

Again, damped areas are like a dream come true for mold. If you find any leaks (in pipes, in your refrigerator, faucets, etc.), repair them as soon as possible to avoid the fungus!

7. Take Out the Trash!

The garbage in your gutter, the old food in your refrigerator, and the wet paper towels in your trashcan are hotspots for moldy activity. Clean thoroughly and take the trash out to avoid problems!

If your mold problem has gotten very bad, then you’ll need a team of professionals to come in and take care of it! If that’s the case, remember that you can count on ProRestore DKI. We are experts in mold remediation and property restoration in Grimes!
